The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that a record 32 films have been submitted for consideration for the Best Animated Feature Oscar at February’s 92nd Academy Awards.
Among the titles up for the honour include Pixar’s Toy Story 4, DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World and Abominable, Illumination Entertainment’s The Secret Life of Pets 2, LAIKA’s Missing Link, Warner Bros. Animation’s The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Netflix’s Klaus and I Lost My Body, MGM’s The Addams Family and Disney Animation’s Frozen II.
Speaking of Disney, the Mouse House opted not to submit Jon Favreau’s photorealistic CG remake of The Lion King for consideration, while Aardman Animation’s A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon is also absent from the longlist.
