The Wrap is reporting that Mad Max: Fury Road and The Neon Demon actress Abbey Lee has signed on to replace Elizabeth Debicki in the cast of the Jordan Peel and J.J. Abrams-produced HBO series Lovecraft Country.
Lovecraft Country “follows 25-year-old Atticus Black (Jonathan Majors), who joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America to find his missing father (Michael K. Williams).”
Lee is set to portray the series regular role of Christina Braithwaite, the daughter of the head of a secret order called the Sons of Adam, who has “gone to great lengths to earn her father’s respect, to no avail. She’s going to pave her own path to power, and she’s going to use Atticus and his family to do it.”
Along with Lee, the series has also added Jamie Chung (The Gifted) and Jordan Patrick Smith (Unbroken) in recurring roles, with Chung playing a seemingly naive nursing student who may be more than she seems, and Smith portraying Christina’s henchman and lover William.
Lovecraft Country has been written by Misha Green (Underground) from Matt Ruff’s 2016 novel, and has Yann Demange (White Boy Rick) attached to direct.
