ABC has announced its cancellations for the new TV season, and it will come as very little surprise to hear that Marvel’s Inhumans won’t be returning for a second season after its rather disastrous reception last year.
In addition to Inhumans, the network has also cancelled fellow freshman dramas Deception, Kevin Probably Saves the World and The Crossing.
Meanwhile, the axe has also fallen on the Kiefer Sutherland-headlined Designated Survivor and Priyanka Chopra terrorism drama Quantico, with the shows failing to secure a third and fourth season respectively.
Designated Survivor’s cancellation comes as somewhat of a shock; although ratings were not particularly strong, it has been profitable for ABC thanks to international deals and a partnership with Netflix, and had been expected to secure a third season.
A decision on the future of Inhumans‘ fellow Marvel series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has not yet been revealed, but an announcement is expected in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the network has also announced that it has passed on the pilot for a reboot of the 80s comedy-drama The Greatest American Hero, which starred Hannah Simone (New Girl) in the role of the titular hero.
