ABC developing Watergate event series

January 27, 2016 by Gary Collinson

ABC and Entertainment One are developing an event series entitled Watergate, which will take place in the Nixon White House during the 1970s scandal; written by Jon Maas (The Last Debate), the project will use John Dean’s The Nixon Defense: What He Knew And When He Knew It and Alden Duer Cohen’s The Women of Watergate as its source material.

Deadline reports that the series “is told through the eyes of “John Dean, then-White House Counsel for President Richard Nixon. It’s described as a Faustian cautionary thriller about a man who thinks he’s getting the job of a lifetime as he walks into the Oval Office — only to discover that it’s a snake pit and he’s being set up to be the fall guy for the most powerful man in the country, if not the world.”

Maas is set to serve as executive producer on the project alongside Bob Cooper of Storyscape Entertainment.
