Back in November it was announced that ABC and Sony Pictures were developing a spinoff to the hit U.S. sitcom The Goldbergs, and now comes word that the network has given the show a straight-to-series order.
The spinoff has been developed by The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg and executive producer Marc Firek and will take place in the 1990s, following the exploits of the teachers of William Penn Academy, including Tim Meadows (Principal Glascott), Bryan Callen (Coach Mellor) and AJ Michalka (Lainey Lewis).
The as-yet-untitled spinoff is set to launch in the 2018-2019 season. The fifth season of The Goldbergs is currently airing on ABC, and the sixth season will get underway later this year.
