With just one short week left until the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Activision and developers Infinity Ward have announced their approach to releasing post-launch content. This announcement surprisingly includes the removal of a Season pass and paid DLC.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be the first game in the series to:
- Introduce crossplay to allow players on all platforms to become one big community.
- Remove the Season Pass and paid DLC multiplayer map packs so that everyone is able to play together.
- Provide FREE post-launch multiplayer maps and modes simultaneously on all platforms for all players to enjoy at the same time.
Also revealed are details on Modern Warfare’s in-game economy. Rather than loot boxes, there will be a both a Free Stream and a Premium Stream of content in a new Battle Pass system that will allow players to see the content that they are earning or buying with points earned by playing the game. The Battle Pass System won’t be available from day one, however it won’t be long before players can try out this new system.
