Rogue One co-writer Tony Gilroy (who also oversaw reshoots on the 2016 Anthology movie) is writing the pilot episode for the as-yet-untitled series as well as directing multiple episodes and serving as showrunner. As a result of the pandemic, it’s unclear at this point when Lucasfilm plans to begin production on the show, or whether it is still aiming for a 2021 premiere.
