Deadline is reporting that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. writer and producer Rafe Judkins has signed on to work on the script for the long-gestating big screen adaptation of the Uncharted video game series.
“We’ve come up with a wonderful origin story but it’s still based on the Uncharted video game,” producer Charles Roven tells Deadline. “It doesn’t take place during any of the time period of any of the Uncharted video games. It actually takes place when Nathan Drake and Sully, I guess you’d call him his surrogate father, were much younger. It’s an origin story that evolves out of the game but is not from the game.”
The first draft of Uncharted – which will star Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming) as a young Nathan Drake – was penned by Joe Carnahan (The A-Team, The Grey), while Shaun Levy (Night at the Museum, Stranger Things) is attached to direct.
