Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins’ new thriller Misconduct grosses just £97 at UK box office

June 8, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

After it received a chilly reception from critics last week, the new thriller Misconduct has had one of the worst openings ever at the UK box office, grossing less than £100. Yes, £100.

The film, directed by Shintaro Shimosawa, stars Academy Award winners Al Pacino (Heat) and Anthony Hopkins (Thor: The Dark World) and was made for roughly $11 million. However, after being released in UK cinemas last Friday on just five screens, the film has so far grossed just £97 for an average of just £19.40 per location.

Misconduct joins the ranks of some of the UK’s lowest grossing films which includes last year’s Momentum, which despite featuring Morgan Freeman, grossed just £46 from 10 screens. Uma Thurman-starrer Motherhood earned just £88 in 2009, while The Chumscrubber, which starred Ralph Fiennes and Jamie Bell, ended with just £36.

Misconduct stars Josh Duhamel (Transformers) as a lawyer “caught up in a nefarious plot involving kidnap and murder”. Malin Akerman (Billions), Alice Eve (Criminal) and Julia Stiles (Jason Bourne) also appear.
