One year on since the death of the beloved Princess, Carrie Fisher, Star Wars has lost another cast member.
At the age of 87, Alfie Curtis, best known as A New Hope’s Dr Cornelius Evazan, has passed away. Curtis’ character appeared in the Mos Eisley cantina sequence, where he picked a fight with Luke Skywalker, only for his friend Ponda Baba to end up losing an arm thanks to Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber.
Mark Hamill tweeted this about Curtis’s passing.
ALFIE CURTIS made the #StarWars Mos Eisley Cantina scene (one of the most memorable I've ever been a part of) even MORE memorable. As horrific as he was on-camera, off-camera he was funny, kind & a real gentleman. Thanks Alf- you'll be missed. #RIP ❤️- mh pic.twitter.com/laxKvbGmrd

During his career, Curtis also had roles in numerous TV shows such as The Bill and Lost Empires as well as the 1980 classic The Elephant Man. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this sad time.
