Back in February, NBC announced that they’d be reviving Heroes, which for a short time was their most popular and beloved show. As you will likely recall, it all went to pot after the first season, but the studio managed to keep it limping along until 2010 when it was mercifully put out of its misery.
Like Arrested Development, 24, and Veronica Mars before it, Heroes is getting a new chance at life, this time via a 13-episode “event” series in 2015 called Heroes: Reborn.
The series will follow a new group of characters, but that the door is open for original series stars to appear. We know that Jack Coleman, who played HRG a.k.a. Noah Bennet, will be back (effectively making him the Agent Coulson of the Heroes universe), and that both Zachary Quinto (who played Sylar) and Milo Ventimiglia (who played Peter Petrelli) are too busy to return.
TV Guide caught up with another series staple, Ali Larter, who played several characters on the show throughout its four seasons. She began as single mom Niki Sanders, but over the course of the series was revealed to have dissociative identity disorder and superhuman strength. She’s got a dark and twisted alter-ego, Jessica, and two identical sisters, Tracy Strauss and Barbara. In other words, the writers quickly realized that there was nowhere to go with her character, so they kept killing her off and giving her identical siblings to play instead, each with their own dark pasts and abilities.
According to Larter, she will not be coming back for Heroes Reborn, due to her commitment to TNT’s upcoming drama Legends. When asked if she would return, she said,
“No. At this point, I think I’ve heard that Jack [Coleman] is coming back, but I’m committed to Legends. I’m on series, so I don’t have the time to work on another project. Not that I didn’t love Heroes and loved working on it, but I’m just at a different stage of my life. I’m super excited and proud to be a part of [Legends] and working with Sean Bean and an incredible cast.”
She’s definitely not ruling out the possibility of someday reappearing, however, and said that she would be willing to make a cameo:
“It could be possible if [Legends] would let me. It’s like the studio system from back in the day. They own me now, so they tell me what I can and can’t do.”
So, that rules her out of the equation. Frankly I never liked any of her characters anyway, and would rather the series continue on without her. Tell us, who do you want to see come back for Heroes Reborn?
