Ali Larter (Heroes) will be coming back to the role of Claire Redfield, a character she played in Resident Evil: Extinction and Resident Evil: Afterlife, in next year’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
If the title didn’t give it away, The Final Chapter is the sixth and final installment in the Resident Evil film franchise. Milla Jovovich, the star of each film in the series, has already signed on to return to the role of Alice.
The Final Chapter begins shooting in South Africa in September, with Paul W.S. Anderson set to both pen the script and direct.
According to Deadline, the film will pick up “after the events of Resident Evil: Retribution, as the Project Alice is forced to race against time before the villainous Red Queen attempts to destroy the final remnants of humanity.”
Financially speaking, the Resident Evil films have been massive successes. Over the course of five films, the series has taken in over $900 million, despite each film receiving generally poor reviews.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is slated to be released in 3D on January 27th 2017.
