CBS is looking to revive the 90s fantasy comedy-drama series Early Edition, with Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness, Belgravia) set to take the lead in a gender-swapped pilot from Melissa Glenn (Hawaii Five-O, Zoo).
The original series followed Gary Hobson, played by Kyle Chandler, a stockbroker who begins receiving the Chicago Sun-Times a day in advance and sets out to try and prevent the tragedies described in the newspaper. It ran for four seasons between 1996 and 2000 on CBS.
The potential reboot will see Eve starring as Beth, “an ambitious but uncompromising journalist who starts receiving tomorrow’s newspaper today, [then] finds herself in the complicated business of changing the news instead of reporting it.”

Along with Eve, the pilot will feature Jay Ali (Magnum P.I.) as Anthony, Beth’s news director; Charles Michael Davis (The Originals) as Derick, a cop-turned-soldier who now works as Beth’s “boyguard”; and Fiona Rene (I Know What You Did Last Summer) as Trina, Beth’s friend and a reporter at the station.
