When news first broke that director Quentin Tarantino was working on his next film, it was believed that the director was creating a film based around the Charles Manson murders. What made this rumor seem even more likely was the fact that Tarantino was looking for actresses to play Sharon Tate (with Margot Robbie said to be the frontrunner).
Well, it seems that Tarantino’s actual idea differs a bit from initial rumors, though it will involve Sharon Tate to some degree.
According to Vanity Fair, the film centers around a “TV actor who’s had one hit series and [is] looking for a way to get into the film business.” He also has a “sidekick – who’s also his stunt double”. Both characters are looking to become famous in 1960’s Hollywood. The Manson murders will apparently be a secondary plot of some kind, and the inclusion of Tate as a character will most likely get the main characters directly involved in the event to a degree.
Beyond this, there is still very little to know about Tarantino’s newest film. On the casting side, we do know that Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Cruise have been in talks for roles in the film. A film set in 1960’s Hollywood is right up Tarantino’s alley, and it will be interesting to learn what shape this film will ultimately take.
