Amanda Seyfried (Mank) has joined the first season of Apple TV+’s anthology series The Crowded Room, where she will star alongside Tom Holland (Spider-Man: No Way Home).
The Crowded Room will explore “inspirational stories of those who have struggled, and learned to successfully live with, mental illness.” It has been written by Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery) who will executive produce. Kornel Mundruczo (Pieces of a Woman) will direct the season and executive produce with Goldsman and Holland.
The 10-episode first season is inspired by Daniel Keyes’ biography The Minds of Billy Milligan and aspects from Goldsman’s own life. Billy Milligan was the first person to ever be acquitted of a crime due to having dissociative identity disorder, which was previously identified as multiple personality disorder, and the first season is loosely based upon his life and court case.
