Amazon and Skybound developing East of West and Transhuman TV adaptations

April 21, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Amazon Studios has added two comic book adaptations to its upcoming TV slate, teaming up with Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment to develop Jonathan Hickman’s East of West and Transhuman as hourlong drama series.

East of West takes place in a reimagined Western landscape where America is divided into seven nation, and follows “Death” as he braves his fellow riders, monsters, and corrupt gunslingers in his quest to save his mortal family from the Apocalypse. Transhuman meanwhile is a sci-fi tale set in the near future which revolves around a divorced couple, who ran rival major corporations, offering humans the ability to genetically and robotically enhance themselves.

Hickman is set to serve as creator and executive producer on both projects alongside Nick Dragotta and J.M Ringuet, the artists on the two Image Comics series. Hickman will also handling scripting duties on East of West, while the search is underway for a writer on Transhuman.

“Nick, J.M. and I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Skybound and Amazon,” said Hickman. “We feel very strongly about each project and couldn’t be more appreciative of how far both companies have gone to make us feel welcome. We look forward to doing the work and hopefully doing it well.”
