Last year it was revealed that Sony Pictures Television was developing a TV adaptation of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and now comes word that Amazon has picked up the project as a potential series for Prime Video.
The series is based upon Wang Dulu’s book of the same name, part of his Crane Iron Pentalogy, which has been adapted for the screen on several occasions already – most notably by filmmaker Ang Lee with his smash hit 2000 movie starring Chow Yun-fat, Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi.
Jason Ning (Lucifer) is writing and showrunning the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon series, with Ronald D. Moore (For All Mankind) and Roy Lee (A Minecraft Movie) executive producing. The logline reads:
“Amidst stunning landscapes and spectacular action, ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ follows Shu Lien and Mu Bai, two star-crossed warriors, as they struggle between forbidden love and the pull of modernity — caught between preserving their way of life or embracing a future together.”
