As part of the fallout from the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse allegations, Amazon has announced that it has scrapped plans for an untitled drama series from David O. Russell, which it was co-producing with The Weinstein Company.
The project would have saw Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore starring, and apparently already had around $40 million spent during development.
“We support Amazon’s decision as in light of recent news and out of respect for all those affected we have decided together that it is best to not move forward with this show,” reads a statement from Russell, De Niro and Moore.
In addition to scrapping the drama from Russell, Amazon has also severed its ties with The Weinstein Company on The Romanoffs, and will now continue with the series on its own, rather than as a co-production with TWC.
