Back in April it was announced that Amazon was taking a stab at bringing the cult 1999 film Cruel Intentions to the small screen, and now the streamer has unveiled the cast for the eight-episode series.
As per Variety, the Cruel Intentions series will feature Sarah Catherine Hook (First Kill) as Caroline, Zac Burgess (Totally Completely Fine) as Lucien, Khobe Clarke (Yellowjackets) as Scott, Brooke Lena Johnson (You) as Beatrice, Sara Silva (The Boys) as CeCe, Sean Patrick Thomas (Cruel Intentions) as Professor Chadwick, John Harlan Kim (The Last Thing He Told Me) as Blaise, Myra Molloy (He’s All That) as Annie, Laura Benanti (Nashville) as Claudia, and Jon Tenney (The Closer) as U.S. Congressman Russell.
Filming on Cruel Intentions is set to get underway in Toronto this month, with series following “two ruthless step siblings who would go to great lengths to stay on top of the social pyramid. In this case, their focus is the Greek life hierarchy at an elite Washington, D.C. college. After a brutal hazing incident threatens the entire Panhellenic system, they’ll do anything to preserve their power and reputations, even attempt to seduce the daughter of the Vice President of the United States.”
Written and directed by Roger Kumble, Cruel Intentions starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair. It spawned two direct-to-video sequels, along with several failed TV adaptations.
