Following last week’s poster, the first teaser trailer for the small screen adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book series The Boys was unveiled at New York Comic-Con yesterday, which introduces the superhero team of The Seven as well offering a glimpse of the titular vigilante group The Boys. Meanwhile, the panel also brought a surprise announcement with the news that Simon Pegg, the inspiration for the character of Wee Hughie, has signed on to the cast to portray his father! Take a look at the NYCC teaser here…
In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, THE BOYS centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as “The Boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. THE BOYS is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes.
The Boys is set to hit Amazon Prime in 2019 and features a cast that includes Karl Urban (Thor: Ragnarok), Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games), Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad), Laz Alonso (Traffik), Antony Starr (American Gothic), Dominique McElligott (The Last Tycoon), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Erin Moriarty (True Detective), Jessie T. Usher (Independence Day: Resurgence), Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas) and Nathan Mitchell (iZombie).
