With the second season of American Gods having begun last month, the returning series based on Neil Gaiman’s bestselling book has cast three new roles. Per Deadline, Dean Winters (John Wick), Devery Jacobs (Mohawk Girls) and Kahyun Kim (Shameless) will star in the upcoming season.
Winters will portray Mr. Town, an associate of Mr. World (Crispin Glover) who is tasked with tracking down Shadow (Ricky Whittle) and finding out what he knows about Mr. Wednesday’s (Ian McShane) plan. Town’s methods are brutally efficient and may help him get to the root of his and World’s curious questions.
First Nations actor Jacobs will recur as a college student named Sam Black Crow. She is spiritually cynical for someone who claims to believe in so much. She lives life with fierce confidence and openness, selling the chainsaw art she carves by the roadside for extra money.
Following Gillian Anderson’s exit from the series as Media, Kim will be in the recurring role of New Media, the goddess of global content — and in this age, a cyberspace chameleon, who is also a master of manipulation.
The eight-episode second season of American Gods is slated to premiere on Starz in 2019 and features a cast that includes Ricky Whittle (The 100) as Shadow Moon, Ian McShane (Deadwood) as Mr. Wednesday, Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) as Laura Moon, Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black) as Mad Sweeney, Orlando Jones (Sleepy Hallow) as Mr. Nancy, Yetide Badaki (Masters of Sex) as Bilquis, Bruce Langley (Deadly Waters) as Technical Boy, Crispin Glover (Back to the Future) as Mr. World, Dean Winters (John Wick) as Mr. Town, Devery Jacobs (Mohawk Girls) as Sam Black Crow, Kahyun Kim (Shameless) as New Media, Cloris Leachman (Raising Hope) as Zorya Vechernyaya, Peter Stormare (Fargo) as Czernobog, Mousa Kraish (Fast & Furious) as The Jinn, Omid Abtahi (Argo) as Salim, Chris Obi (Snow White and the Huntsman) as Anubis, and Demore Barnes (12 Monkeys) as Mr. Ibis.
