CBS are working on an animated-series based on multiplayer phenomenon Among Us.
Variety have hit the report button to reveal that CBS, via their CBS Eye Animation Productions, has teamed up with Innersloth, the game’s developers, to create an animated series based on Among Us.
Owen Dennis, who’s best known for the Cartoon Network series Infinity Train, will serve as creator, while Big Mouth and Star Trek: Lower Decks animation studio Titmouse will house the project.
Inspired by the party game Mafia and John Carpenter’s The Thing, Among Us is a 2018 online multiplayer social deduction game developed and published by Innersloth. In it colourful spacemen known as ‘Crewmates’ must work to complete assigned tasks in order to escape, while simultaneously trying to vote out suspected ‘Impostors’, who spend the game attempting to kill their fellow crewmates and sabotage the mission.
Among Us exploded in 2020, when it became number one on Google Play and iOS in almost every country, as well as nearly 500 million monthly active users, more than 4 billion views on YouTube, and over 1.22 billion viewing sessions on Twitch.
