After postponing the film from last year to move it out of a packed awards season, Netflix has now unveiled the first trailer for Blonde, the upcoming Marilyn Monroe film from director Andrew Dominik (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) and starring Knives Out and No Time to Die’s Ana de Armas as the iconic Marilyn.
Blonde is based upon the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates and promises to “boldly reimagines the complicated life of icon Marilyn Monroe, blurring the lines of fact and fiction, and artfully exploring the tension between her public and private life.”
Expect some controversy too, as Blonde has been slapped with an NC-17 rating for sexual content, and the film has reportedly been causing Netflix executives headaches due to disturbing and graphic content, despite a recut to “curb the excesses of the movie.”
