HBO Max has renewed the Sex and the City sequel series And Just Like That… for a second season.
The series reunites original Sex and the City stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis as Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate through new problems in their families, romances and friendship. The series was created by Michael Patrick King with him, Parker, Nixon and Davis executive producing.
“I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters played by these powerful, amazing actors,” King said. “The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And Just like That… our Sex life is back.”
“We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much,” said Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max’s head of original content. “We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast, and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season 2!”
While several stars from Sex and the City like Chris Noth, Mario Cantone and the late Willie Garson reprised their roles, the notable standout was Kim Catrall who played fan-favourite Samantha in the original series due to lingering tensions between her and Parker. While Samantha obviously never made a physical appearance, she was referenced to and shown in text conversations with the three other lead women.
The Max Original AND JUST LIKE THAT…, the new chapter of the groundbreaking HBO series “Sex and the City,” follows “Carrie” (Sarah Jessica Parker), “Miranda” (Cynthia Nixon) and “Charlotte” (Kristin Davis) as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.
Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristen Davis, the series features a cast that includes Sara Ramírez, Chris Noth, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Willie Garson and Evan Handler.
