Having starred opposite Hugh Grant in the original 1994 film, actress Andie MacDowell has now signed on for a guest role in the upcoming Hulu series inspired by the hit romantic comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral, while Game of Thrones‘ Nathalie Emmanuel has replaced Jessica Williams (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) as the show’s lead.
The limited series, which is being written and executive produced by Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton, follows “four American friends — Maya (Emmanuel), Craig (Brandon Mychal Smith), Ainsley (Rebecca Rittenhouse) and Duffy (John Reynolds) — who reunite for a fabulous London wedding. But after a bombshell at the altar throws their lives into turmoil, they must weather a tumultuous year of romance and heartbreak. Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and of course, there are four weddings… and a funeral.”
MacDowell will take on the role of Mrs. Howard, Ainsley’s mother. Other new additions to the cast include Zoe Boyle (Frontier), Jennie Jacques (Vikings), Harish Patel (Run Fatboy Run) and Guz Khan (Finding Fatima). The series is slated to premiere on Hulu in 2019.
