Since it was revealed that Spider-Man: No Way Home was to feature the multiverse, there have been plenty of rumours speculating that Andrew Garfield was to reprise his role as the web-slinger from The Amazing Spider-Man series.
Now, in an interview with Variety, Garfield was once again addressed the rumours of his involvement in the third Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man title and has once again denied all of these claims despite knowing that no one is going to believe him.
“I understand why people are freaking out about the concept of that because I’m a fan as well. You can’t help but imagine scenes and moments of ‘Oh, my God, how fucking cool would it be if they did that?’” he says. “But it’s important for me to say on the record that this is not something I’m aware I am involved in. But I know I’m not going to be able to say anything that will convince anyone that I don’t know what’s happening. No matter what I say, I’m fucked. It’s either going to be really disappointing for people or it’s going to be really exciting.”

Although Garfield continues to deny his involvement, it has been confirmed that Jamie Foxx will return as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 while Alfred Molina will return as Doctor Octopus from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. The recent trailer has also strongly hinted at Willem Dafoe’s return as Green Goblin. Rumours have also suggested that Tobey Maguire will be reprising his role as Spidey from the Sam Raimi trilogy.
For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
