Andy Serkis talks Uylsses Klaw role in Avengers: Age of Ultron and whether he’ll return for Black Panther

March 31, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Attending the Jameson Empire Awards on Sunday night, where he was honoured with Best Actor for his role as Caesar in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Andy Serkis spoke briefly about his upcoming role as the villainous Uylsses Klaw in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron:

“I think I can absolutely confirm it’s Ulysses Klaw now because I think the news is out,” said Serkis. “I sort of noticed that people [on the red carpet] sort of knew that I was Ulysses Klaw, so I thought ‘It must be out then.’ It was [a] really minimal [part], but I just loved doing it; it’s a great character.”

Asked whether he’ll be reprising the role for a future Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Serkis replied: “That I know nothing about. I truly don’t know anything about that. I know that they’ve just announced the Black Panther movie, but I don’t know anything about it.”

Given that Klaw is T’Challa’s arch-enemy, you’d have to imagine he will be making an appearance when the Black Panther movie arrives in 2018. But first, we’ll see him in Age of Ultron, which is set for release in the UK on April 23rd and North America on May 1st.
