The Academy Award winning duo of Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry are set to go head-to-head in Warner Bros. action-thriller Maude v Maude.
According to Deadline Warner Bros has landed the project following an intense bidding-war, and that Jolie and Berry will produce the film as-well-as headlining the action, which will be orchestrated by Shadow in the Cloud director Roseanne Liang.
Being an espionage film, details about Maude v Maude are obviously being kept under wraps, but sources say that it has been pitched as a “Bond vs. Bourne” type of global action thriller.
Both stars have previous when it comes to spy-games; Jolie fronted the really-rather-good Salt, which earned $300 million worldwide in 2010 and hinted at a future potential franchise that never materialised, while Berry played Jinx in the 20th Bond film Die Another Day.
Maude v Maude’s script has been written by long-time Kevin Smith collaborator Scott Mosier, whose most recent credits include co-directing 2018’s animated take on The Grinch.
Next up for Jolie is the eagerly-anticipated Maria Callas biopic, Maria, which is being directed by Pablo Larrain (Spencer), while Berry is currently filming Alexandre Aja’s latest horror Never Let Go.
