Anne Hathaway heading to the small screen for limited series The Ambassador’s Wife

August 19, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Variety is reporting that Oscar winner Anne Hathaway is making the move to the small screen and is set to star in limited series The Ambassador’s Wife for eOne.

Based on the novel by Jennifer Steil, which has only recently been published, The Ambassador’s Wife tells the story of a “British woman who is kidnapped in Yemen, setting off an ordeal for her and her ambassador husband.” Hathaway is also set to produce the show, which is being developed by The Mark Gordon Company, the company behind Ray Donovan and Grey’s Anatomy.

Mark Gordon said on Hathaway’s involvement: “We are so fortunate to have Anne starring in this timely, gripping, and compassionate drama. She is in a league all her own and we cannot think of anyone who can better portray Steil’s complex heroine.”

Hathaway returns to the big screen next month with the release of her new comedy-drama The Intern, directed by Nancy Meyers (Something’s Gotta Give) and co-starring Robert De Niro (Silver Linings Playbook).
