AMC has renewed Mayfair Witches, the adaptation of Anne Rice’s Lives of Mayfair Witches trilogy, for a third season with a location change. Starring Alexandra Daddario, the third season will switch from the series’ previous setting of New Orleans to Salem, Massachusetts, a place notorious for its superstitions and witch trials.
Season three will “dive deeper into the mythology of witchcraft, introduce new ‘spellbound’ families and feature some of the historical happenings of Salem, the infamous town of witch trials and folklore.”
The upcoming season will also see Tom Schnauz join the series as co-showrunner alongside creator Esta Spalding. “I am thrilled to welcome Tom Schnauz to our team for the third season of Mayfair Witches. A contemporary twist on the Salem story, it promises to be our most delicious yet,” Spalding said.
“The drama and complexities of the Mayfair family continue to be an intriguing and enchanting source of story, and expanding that story against the backdrop of Salem, a historical haven of witchcraft, is an exciting next chapter for this series and our larger Anne Rice Immortal Universe,” said Dan McDermott, President of Entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “Tom Schnauz has a storied history with AMC, and we’re elated to have him join the talented Esta Spalding and our Mayfair cast for a season that will explore a larger world of witchery and Mayfair family secrets as we continue to build out this dynamic franchise.”
The second season recently concluded its run in early March. It is part of AMC’s Immortal Universe which includes its series adaptation of Rice’s Interview with the Vampire. The two series had a slight crossover in Mayfair‘s second season when a Vampire character made a brief cameo and a third series set in the universe, The Talamasca: The Secret Order, is currently in post-production for a Fall 2025 premiere.
Mayfair Witches features Alexandra Daddario as Rowan Mayfair, Jack Huston as Lasher, Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, and Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair. Season two will introduce Alyssa Jirrels as Moira Mayfair, Ted Levine as Julien Mayfair, Thora Birch as Gifford Mayfair, Ben Feldman as Sam Larkin, Callan McAuliffe as Abel Mayfair, Franka Potente as Annamieke and Ian Pirie as Ian Mayfair.
