Casting is underway on the second instalment of FX’s anthology series American Crime Story, with EW reporting that Oscar-nominee Annette Bening has signed on for the female lead in Katrina: American Crime Story.
The new season will focus on the tragedy and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, with Bening set to play Kathleen Blanco, the governor of Louisiana. FX and executive producers Ryan Murphy, Brad Simpson and Nina Jacobson are also developing a further two seasons, the first of which focusses on the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace, and the second the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky sex scandal.
Katrina: American Crime Story is expected to air on FX in 2018.
