Since the announcement that Ben Affleck was no longer directing The Batman, there have been some rumours about his continued involvement in the franchise, as well as word that Chris Terrio (Argo) has re-written his script. According to a new report from Forbes, Affleck’s script saw a cameo from Jared Leto’s Joker last seen in Suicide Squad as well as a list of other Batman villains. The report also says that Affleck’s script – which he’s been working on for some time – might be scrapped entirely. Read more here.
STRANGER THINGS
Following the teaser trailer released during the Super Bowl, Entertainment Weekly dropped some new images from Stranger Things season 2 as well as a synopsis. We won’t post it here in case of spoilers, but you can read more about it here.
CLERKS 3 AND MALLRATS 2 ARE DEAD – LONG LIVE JAY AND SILENT BOB
In some sad news for fans of Kevin Smith, the director announced last night that his long-gestating Clerks 3 and proposed Mallrats TV series are both dead. According to Smith, one of the leads of Clerks 3 dropped out (likely Jeff Anderson) and none of the six TV networks he pitched to have optioned to pick up Mallrats (which was originally pitched as a sequel film). However it’s not all doom and gloom as he’s written a new film Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. The director notes that film centers around Jay and Silent Bob going back to Hollywood again to stop a reboot of Bluntman and Chronic, the film they tried to stop back in 2001. GIRLS TRIP
A new red band trailer has arrived online for Malcolm D. Lee’s upcoming comedy Girls Trip along with a poster featuring stars Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tiffany Haddish. Check it out here.
A couple of days a go, it was announced that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was developing a film based on the life of WWE superstar Paige, and now it’s been revealed that Nick Frost (The Worlds End) and Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) have both joined the cast. Read more about that here.
A TERRIBLE NIGHT FOR A CURSE
In some rather surprising news, Netflix quietly announced a brand new animated series would land later this year based on the classic video game franchise Castlevania. The series is being produced by Adi Shankar, the man behind the epic Power/Rangers short and 2012’s Dredd. No word on plot yet, but there will no doubt be whips, monsters and vampires.
