Despite the failings of Battleship, the idea of developing a board game into a feature length movie is still doing the rounds in Hollywood, but this new movie based on popular family game Monopoly is looking at the games inception rather than creating a story from it.
Tracking Board are reporting that Big Beach Films are developing a movie based on the book The Monopolists: Obsession, Fury And The Scandal Behind The World’s Favourite Board Game, which is described as as the book that “reveals the unknown story of how Monopoly came into existence, the reinvention of its history by Parker Brothers and multiple media outlets, the lost female originator of the game, and one man’s lifelong obsession to tell the true story about the game’s questionable origins.”
This isn’t connected to the Ridley Scott directed Monopoly movie, although with his schedule busy with Alien: Paradise Lost and Blade Runner 2, it could be a while before we see that movie pass go and collect $200.
