According to Deadline, Ansel Elgort (Divergent, The Fault in Our Stars) is in talks to join Warner Bros.’ upcoming adaptation of the classic role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.
The project is being directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) from a script by David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2), and will follow “a warrior and his band of mystical creatures as they embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure.”
Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel has previously expressed an interest in joining the film, having been a fan of the game for twenty years, although his involvement is yet to be officially confirmed.
A Dungeons & Dragons movie was released in 2000, although it was ravaged by critics and failed miserably at the box office. Nevertheless, it did receive a made-for-TV sequel Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God in 2005, along with a straight-to-video follow-up Dungeons & Dragons: The Book of Vile Darkness in 2012.
