It looks like we can add 1978’s Every Which Way But Loose to the ever-growing list of remakes, with Deadline reporting that Anthony G. Cohen (The Sex Trip) has signed on to direct a new take on the Clint Eastwood comedy.
“I have been interviewing directors for over a year and as soon as I watched Cohen’s film The Sex Trip … I knew instantly he was the right director for this picture,” said James Fargo, who directed the original movie, and is producing the remake. “I was very impressed with his film and his directing style.”
Every Which Way But Loose follows the exploits of a truck driver and bare-knuckle fighter and his pet orangutan Clyde as they travel the American West in search of a lost love. The original film was a huge hit at the box office, leading to the 1980 sequel Any Which Way You Can.
