The new Captain America is getting his time on the big screen as Anthony Mackie has penned a new deal with Disney and Marvel Studios to star in Captain America 4.
Deadline reports that the actor is leaving the Disney+ screens and coming to the cinemas with his first official outing at the new Cap. This film will mark his seventh appearance in the MCU films, beginning in 2014 with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. We last saw Mackie in the MCU during the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Sources close to Deadline did not report if Sebastian Stan would be returning as Winter Soldier for this film. The tentatively titled Captain America 4 suggests this will be a solo outing, but of course that doesn’t rule out other MCU characters appearing alongside Mackie.
The fourth Captain America film is being penned by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writer and creator Malcolm Spellman. At the time of reporting, there’s no word on who will direct the film.

Deadline also notes that Captain America 4 is not the same as the previously rumored project that will see Chris Evans return to the MCU, and there’s no word at present whether he might reprise the role of Steve Rogers for this.
