Apple is the latest company to veer into streaming original content and has just picked up its very first scripted series. The tech giant has picked up Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies) and Jennifer Aniston’s (Office Christmas Party) untitled drama series about a morning show team for not one, but two seasons. The actresses will star in and executive produce the series.
The show is described as “an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual”. The first season will run for 10-episodes and is written and executive produced by House of Cards‘ Jay Carson.
Earlier this summer the series was being shopped around to several networks with HBO and Netflix being very interested at the time. Witherspoon comes fresh off the critically acclaimed miniseries Big Little Lies, with a second season possibly on the way, while Aniston makes her return to a full-time series since Friends ended in 2004.
