Apple TV+ releases trailer for star-studded thriller Calls

March 4, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

With a little over two weeks to go until it premieres on Apple TV+, a trailer has been released for Calls, the upcoming thriller based on the French series of the same name. Directed by Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe), the story told entirely through nine seemingly unconnected 12-minute phone conversations which unfold a darkly dramatic mystery; take a look here…

Based on the buzzy French series of the same name, Calls is a groundbreaking immersive television experience that masterfully uses only audio and minimal abstract visuals to tell bone-chilling snackable stories. Launching in a binge model worldwide, all nine 12-minute episodes are told through a series of phone calls that use sharp writing, compelling voice talent and graphics to aid in transcribing the darkly dramatic conversations onto the screen. These relatable scenarios transport the audience into familiar situations that quickly become surreal with thrilling and frightening moments.

Calls features a cast that includes Nicholas Braun (Succession), Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption), Lily Collins (Emily in Paris), Rosario Dawson (Jane the Virgin), Mark Duplass (The Morning Show), Karen Gillan (Avengers: Endgame), Judy Greer (Halloween), Paul Walter Hauser (Cobra Kai), Danny Huston (Children of Men), Nick Jonas (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Riley Keough (The Girlfriend Experience), Joey King (The Act), Stephen Lang (Avatar), Jaeden Martell (Defending Jacob), Paola Nuñez (Bad Boys for Life), Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Danny Pudi (Mythic Quest), Ben Schwartz (House of Lies), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Tenet) and Jennifer Tilly (Family Guy).

Calls premieres on March 19th on Apple TV+.
