Aquaman director James Wan is impressed that Marvel made Captain America and Thor so successful

July 10, 2018 by Samuel Brace

James Wan, director of the upcoming DC superhero blockbuster Aquaman, is impressed that Marvel made Captain America and Thor so successful, especially overseas.

There’s no doubt that one of the most impressive things Marvel Studios has accomplished is getting people engaged and interested in what were once lesser known characters like Captain America and Thor.

The studio’s ability to make a success out of characters like this is something that has impressed a lot of people, including Aquaman director James Wan.

Speaking to EW, the director said: “I actually think the most incredible thing [Marvel] did is making Captain America and Thor accessible to the mainstream – especially outside of the United States. The moment you can make a character called ‘Captain America’ work in Russia and China, then anything is possible.”

Would you agree with Wan’s praise of Marvel? There surely can be little doubt regarding the impressive nature of what they have accomplished with characters such as the ones referenced by Aquaman’s director.
