As its 75th anniversary approaches, Archie Comics is looking to bring its library of comic book characters to the screen. We already know that a live-action TV series entitled Riverdale is in the works at FOX featuring the likes of Archie, Betty, Veronica and Josie and the Pussycats, and now CEO Jon Goldwater has revealed that we can expect an adaptation of the ongoing series Afterlife with Archie “in the near future”.
“The answer is YES! Absolutely!,” said Goldwater when he was asked during a Reddit AMA if we’d see the ongoing horror comic book become a TV series or movie. “This is something that will be happening at some point in the near future – nothing to announce just yet, but rest assured it will happen.”
Launching in 2013, Afterlife with Archie is written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa with art from Francesco Francavilla, and centred on a zombie apocalypse in the town of Riverdale.
