Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in the holiday genre. Per Deadline, he and Reacher star Alan Ritchson are set to team up in Amazon MGM’s Christmas heist comedy The Man With The Bag.
The film will see Santa Claus turning to his naughty list to recruit a thief after his Christmas bag was stolen. They team up to retrieve the bag and save Christmas. The official synopsis reads: “When Santa’s magic bag is stolen, he turns to his naughty list to find Vance, a former thief, to help him get it back. Along with his daughter, Santa, and a group of misfit elves, Vance will have to pull off the greatest heist of his life to save Christmas.”
There is no official word on who Schwarzenegger and Ritchson will play, but Deadline notes the likelihood it is Schwarzenegger who will play jolly old Saint Nick with Ritchson as Vance. The Man With The Bag will be directed by Adam Shankman (Disenchanted) from a screenplay by Allan Rice (Stuck in the Middle).
This marks Schwarzenegger’s first holiday themed film since the 1996 cult classic Jingle All The Way. It also marks his first feature film since Terminator: Dark Fate, the last installment of the Terminator franchise in 2019. He recently starred in the Netflix action-comedy series FUBAR opposite Top Gun: Maverick‘s Monica Barbaro.
The Man With The Bag is expected to begin production later this year.
