Arrow casts Madison McLaughlin as Artemis

June 21, 2016 by Ricky Church

As the fifth season of The CW’s Arrow gets ready for production, a new face is set to appear in the upcoming season. Well, its not so much a new face as it is a new identity. Evelyn Sharp, played by Madison McLaughlin, will appear again and take on the persona of the archer Artemis, more commonly known by DC Comics fans as the villain Tigress.

Sharp last appeared in Season 4’s ‘Canary Cry’ where she briefly assumed the Black Canary identity after Laurel Lance’s death. Sharp then went after Damien Darhk and his wife for killing her parents, though Green Arrow and his team stopped her from damaging the Black Canary mantle any further and sent her to jail.

This will be a departure from the comics as Artemis Crock is the daughter of supervillains Tigress and Sportsmaster and a member of the Injustice Society. It wasn’t until 2011’s Young Justice animated series where Artemis was given a heroic twist, becoming Green Arrow’s sidekick in an attempt to run away from her family’s villainous legacy. Though her parents are apparently dead in Arrow, it seems this is the direction they are going for the character.

McLaughlin is reportedly set to reappear in episode 502 of Arrow. The fifth season is also set to return on Wednesday, October 5 this fall.
