Atari and Orbit Studio’s revival of their classic survival horror game Haunted House is now available on PC and consoles. This new stealth-horror adventure is a roguelite revival of the classic Atari 2600 game released back in 1982 and has players taking on an entire haunted house. A new launch trailer can be seen below…
In Haunted House players take the role of Lyn Graves, niece of the legendary (and now missing) treasure hunter Zachary Graves. When Lyn visits her uncle’s mansion with her closest friends she finds it overrun with all manner of ghosts and monsters who whisk away her friends. It’s up to Lyn to find the shattered pieces of a magical urn, reassemble them and free her uncle and her friends.
Players will make their way through procedurally generated room layouts, get past shifting walls and sneak out of the way of the hordes of spooks and spectres. Should Lyn get defeated she will find herself back at the mansion entrance with a brand new layout to navigate through.
As with the original game on the Atari 2600 (considered by many to be the first survival horror game), players are rewarded by using stealth and problem solving rather than using combat. Players will also be able to utilise traps and items to help get past enemies.
Haunted House features:
- A cartoon-like art style that helps walk the line between goofy and spooky.
- Stealth based gameplay and light combat sequences.
- Unlockable characters that possess different stats allowing players to access different areas.
- Plenty of collectables to find and Atari Easter Eggs galore.
Haunted House is available now on PC and consoles.
