Austin Butler has flown in the sky and rocked the stage, and his rumored new role could see him ride the seven seas.
Rumors have swirled that the actor will soon join an upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean reboot. He was asked about this on the red carpet for his new film The Bikeriders and kept it coy even though he seemed nervous.
“Oh really, I haven’t heard about that. I loved Pirates of the Caribbean,” he told ET. “That just reminded me of when I was a kid. In elementary school, we had to make these posters that had like your favorite music, your favorite actors.” He added, “And at that time – I don’t know what grade, it must have been fourth grade, third grade or something – but it was — Pirates of the Caribbean was on there.”
But he says that stepping into the franchise would be difficult, adding “It’s a hard one to touch because they did it so well. I loved what Johnny [Depp] did with that”.
Austin Butler is checking off significant dream roles for many. Not only has he played Elvis to some awards success, but he recently starred in Dune: Part Two and has also landed roles in a new Ari Aster film called Eddington and Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing as well as being linked to Michael Mann’s Heat 2.
Butler will next star in The Bikeriders, which will premiere on June 21st in theaters. You can read our review of the film here.
