Avengers: Age of Ultron has reached a box office milestone today, with the Joss Whedon-directed superhero sequel becoming the twenty-first film to pass the $1 billion mark world wide, and the third Marvel Studios movie to hit ten figures after The Avengers and Iron Man 3.
It’s taken twenty-four days for Age of Ultron to reach a billion, some seven days longer than Fast & Furious 7’s record-breaking feat last month (and five days more than its predecessor in 2012). Furious 7 remains some $460 million ahead of the Avengers sequel worldwide, although Age of Ultron leads the way in terms of domestic box office and should find itself cracking the all-time global top ten when the dust settles on this weekend.
