After sinking Titanic last week, Marvel Studios’ superhero epic Avengers: Endgame has reached another box office milestone yesterday as it became only the second movie in history to hit the $2.5 billion mark worldwide.
Domestically, Endgame has climbed to $728.4 million, making it the third-highest grossing North American release behind Avatar ($760.5 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.7 million), the latter of which’s record seems safe.
Worldwide however, only Avatar and its $2.788 billion haul stands in the way of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes cementing its place as the biggest movie of all time, and with Endgame currently sitting on $2.503 billion as it approaches its fourth weekend, it may well come down to the wire.
This week’s main competition comes from the hotly-anticipated John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, which is expected to knock Endgame from the top of the chart before Disney unleashes its next blockbuster Aladdin the following week.
