Last month, a cast list for Avengers: Infinity War surfaced on Metacritic, which listed an actor by the name of Curt Clenenin as portraying Norrin Radd, better known to Marvel fans as the Silver Surfer.
Now, we do know that Marvel has been keen on introducing the Silver Surfer into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for some years now, with Kevin Feige reportedly offering Fox the opportunity to hold on to Daredevil in exchange for the rights to the Surfer and Galactus. And of course, with Disney in the process of acquiring 20th Century Fox’s film and TV assets – including the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four – it is of course only a matter of time before the Silver Surfer does make his MCU debut.
However, it appears it won’t be in Avengers: Infinity War.
“I don’t think we own Silver Surfer,” Infinity War co-director Joe Russo revealed to Yahoo! Movies. “But it’s fan-wish fulfillment and, you know, if this Disney-Fox deal goes through there’s going to be a lot more characters coming into the Marvel universe, so some of those crazy fan theories might come true.”
So there you have it. Unless Joe is lying to throw us off the scent, it seems we’ll have a little longer to wait before we see the Silver Surfer back on the big screen…
