With excitement for Avengers: Infinity War close to fever point ahead of its release this month, it is now being reported that the Marvel Studios blockbuster is setting all kinds of records when it comes to advance ticket sales.
We’d already heard that the film had shattered the 24 hour pre-sale record set by Black Panther in just six hours, and now comes word that Infinity War is actually outselling the combined advance ticket sales for the past seven Marvel Cinematic Universe movies combined on Fandango.
That’s Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Doctor Strange, Captain America: Civil War and Ant-Man. COMBINED.
Infinity War is said to be outselling Black Panther – the record holder for supehero movie presales – by two-to-one, which surely means that tracking estimates of $200 million are conservative, given that Black Panther managed a three-day weekend of $202 million.
The biggest three-day opening for a Marvel Studios release was set in 2012 when The Avengers opened to $207.4 million, a then-record which has since been surpassed by Jurassic World ($208.8 million), Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($220 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($248 million).
A new king may be sitting atop that throne by the end of this month…
An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
