In Avengers: Endgame, a number of heroes said goodbye in one way or another including Chris Evan’s Captain America after he gave his shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson aka The Falcon. However, Endgame’s writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely believe Marvel shouldn’t bring Chris Evans back in the future as it could potentially hurt Avengers: Endgame.
“I love writing for Cap. I love Evans. But I really feel, much like Tony, we got them to a place where they don’t need to do it anymore. I’d hate to gin up something hokey to get them back,” Markus told ScreenRant.
McFeely agrees, adding: “I do worry that if they do stuff like that, it’ll ding Endgame in the rearview mirror. This is such an important and such an interesting moment in movies because a very successful studio just put their tools down.”
Both of the writers make great points as Captain America’s ending was ultimately a satisfying conclusion to the Infinity Saga and Steve Rogers’ character arc. For now, we will get to see the next chapter of this character with The Falcon taking on the mantle in the upcoming Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
