Baby Reindeer star Richard Gadd teams with Jamie Bell for Half Man

November 26, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Richard Gadd is still flying high off his hit Netflix series Baby Reindeer, and now he’s locked down the perfect follow-up to the award-winning series as Gadd is set for Half Man, formerly known as Lions, where he will write and executive produce the project. Jamie Bell will co-star.

The show’s description reads, “When Niall’s (Bell) estranged ‘brother’ Ruben (Gadd) shows up at his wedding, it leads to an explosion of violence that catapults us back through their lives. Spanning almost forty years from the 1980s to the present day, this ambitious series will cover the highs and lows of the brothers’ relationship, from them meeting as teenagers to their falling out as adults — with all the good, bad, terrible, funny, angry, and challenging moments along the way. It will capture the wild energy of a changing city — a changing world, even — and try to get to the bottom of the difficult question: What does it mean to be a man?”

Half Man will run on HBO in the United States and the BBC in the U.K. and Ireland after the studios jointly signed onto the series back in June. This came before Gadd signed a first-look deal with Netflix following the smashing success of Baby Reindeer.

Filming for Half Man will begin in 2025 in Scotland.
